House of Stanbury is a small online boutique with a short, carefully chosen range of bags, clothing, jewellery and a few pieces for the table. Many items are picked and modelled by Caroline, whose favourites crop up across the site, and plenty can be personalised with a name or initials. It suits anyone looking for a gift with a personal touch, or a statement summer bag that is not on every high street.

The range is small and changes often, and a lot of it is made to order. Product pages are good at flagging lead times, so it pays to read them before you set your heart on something for a birthday.

What's worth a look

• Hand Woven Black Linen with Silver Hardware: a hand-woven shoulder bag with leather tassels, braided handles and a lined interior, in small, medium and large. Currently £195 for the small size and £205 for larger ones, with a lead time of about three weeks. There is also a green linen version and a brown leather one.

• Round Moissanite Stud Earrings Sterling Silver: sterling silver studs set with moissanite, currently from £140. The page notes that this item dispatches immediately, which makes it a handy choice when time is short.
• Travel Scallop Gym Set with Shorts: a matching scalloped top and shorts in a soft nylon and spandex mix, sized small to large (UK 6 to 14), currently £89.
