Connie Gray is a small London home fragrance brand making candles, reed diffusers and eau de parfum by hand in the UK. It was started by Kerry Barnham and named after her grandmother, who blended her own perfumes at home. The first collection launched in 2016 and the studio is now in Hampton, south-west London. It suits anyone who likes a well-made candle for their own home, or who wants a gift with a London connection.
Every scent is named after a part of London. Belgravia mixes black rose and frankincense, Kew is summer lawn and tuberose, Knightsbridge pairs oud with woodsmoke, and Richmond is basil and Italian cypress. There are ten scents in all, and most come as a candle, a diffuser or both. The newest collection brought thicker glass for the candles, a couple of extra sizes and five new scents, along with the move into eau de parfum.
The candles are sold by size rather than by scent, so once you have found a fragrance you like you can choose anything from a small single-wick candle for a bedside table to a four-wick tray for a dining table. The site also has a page of care tips for candles and diffusers, which is worth reading if you want a candle to burn evenly to the end.
What's worth a look
- Kew Standard Candle: a 23cl single-wick candle with around 40 hours of burn time, currently £48. The same size comes in most scents.
- Regular Candles: a 43cl single-wick size with about 70 hours of burn time, currently £64.
- Knightsbridge Diffuser: a 120ml reed diffuser that lasts about 16 weeks, currently £36.
- Belgravia Eau de Parfum: a 100ml perfume in the brand's original scent, currently £86.
- Discovery Set 1: samples of the scents available across candles, diffusers and eau de parfum, currently £12.
For a bigger statement there are four-wick tray candles at £94, two-wick large candles at £120 and a 113cl four-wick deluxe candle at £180.
Current offers
We didn't find any live discount codes or sales on the Connie Gray site when we checked. Last year the brand ran a Gray Friday sale with 30% off, announced on its blog, so it's worth checking back in late November. We'll add new offers here as they appear.
