ScanSkinAI is an online service that lets you photograph a mole, rash or patch of skin and get an AI-generated report back on your phone. It is run by Ivy AI Solutions, a company registered in London in 2025 with a second office in Hong Kong, and it works in your browser as well as through iOS and Android apps. The company describes it as a screening and monitoring tool rather than a diagnosis, and says plainly that it does not replace a doctor. It suits people who want an easy way to keep a dated photo record of a spot over time, or to send a check to a relative who keeps putting off looking at something.

One thing UK users should know up front: although the company is UK-registered, prices on the site are in US dollars and payment goes through Stripe by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay. Your bank may add a small foreign transaction fee.

What's worth a look

  • Free browser scan: your first check needs no account and no app download. You upload a clear, well-lit photo, answer a few questions and get a report in around 30 seconds.
  • Monitoring plans: the three-month plan is currently US$19.99 and allows up to 15 scans, while the twelve-month plan is currently US$69.99 for up to 60 scans. Both keep a side-by-side history of your photos and renew automatically until you cancel. A single check without history is US$4.99.
  • Dermatologist review: an optional add-on where dermatology clinicians write a commentary on your AI results. It is currently US$19.99 for a reply within 48 hours or US$39.99 for a reply within eight hours.
  • Family & Friends Skin Check: you buy scans at US$4.99 each, add a short personal message, and send a link or QR code. The person you send it to can check a spot privately without signing up.
  • Product ingredient scanner: photograph the ingredients list on skincare, makeup, sunscreen or haircare and get a breakdown of what is in it, with flags for common allergens and ingredients you may prefer to avoid. It is included in the monitoring plans.

Current offers

  • Your first AI skin scan is free, with no sign-up or app needed.
  • The 12-month monitoring plan is US$69.99, which the site says works out at about $1.17 a scan if you use the full allowance.
  • The 3-month monitoring plan is US$19.99 and can be cancelled at any time.

How to save more

  • Try the free scan first to see whether the format suits you before committing to a plan.
  • If you only want to check one spot every month or two, compare the three-month plan with buying single checks. The plans only pay off if you use several scans.
  • Pick the 48-hour dermatologist review rather than the eight-hour option unless you need the faster reply, as it costs half as much.

Speak to your GP or pharmacist if you have any concerns about your health.
