scentuBeauty is an independent perfumery and beauty shop in Newark, Nottinghamshire. It has been run by the same family company since 2006 and still has a shop in the town, but the website brings its range to the rest of the UK. You'll find big names such as Guerlain, Prada, Lancôme and L'Occitane next to smaller fragrance houses including Fugazzi, Miller Harris, Ortigia Sicilia and Versatile Paris, as well as skincare, make-up, hair care, sun care and home fragrance.

It suits people looking for a less common perfume, a gift, or a familiar brand from a smaller shop. The company says it is an authorised stockist for every brand it sells and packs every order in Newark itself.

Ordering is straightforward. Weekday orders placed before 12pm are dispatched the same day, a tracking code is emailed when the parcel leaves, and Royal Mail sends a delivery estimate. The shop only delivers within the UK. If you change your mind, you have 30 days to tell them and a further 14 days to send the item back, as long as it's new and still sealed.

Prices can change, so check the product page before you buy. Most product pages also offer gift wrap for £2.50. The site also has separate gift set sections for fragrance, skincare and make-up, which are worth browsing before birthdays and Christmas.

How to save more

• Use the free Tracked 48 option unless the order is urgent. Orders placed before 12pm on a weekday go out the same day, so it usually arrives within a few days anyway.
• Compare sizes. Bigger bottles of shower oil, shower gel and diffuser refill usually cost less per ml than the small versions.
• Keep the seals on until you're sure. Unopened items can be returned within 30 days, but anything with a broken seal can't be returned for hygiene reasons.
