Squiggle Consult is an estate planning company based near Ashford in Kent. It writes Wills, sets up trusts and Lasting Powers of Attorney, and handles probate through its sister company, Squiggle Probate Ltd. A consultant meets you at home or over Zoom to talk through your family and what you own, then sends draft documents for you to approve before a signing meeting. It can also store the documents for you.

It suits anyone who wants help putting a Will or Power of Attorney in place without going to a high-street solicitor. That includes people who can get a complimentary Will through their employer, a charity or one of Squiggle's partners. Will writing isn't regulated in England and Wales, and Squiggle says so plainly. Its team belong to bodies such as the Society of Will Writers, and work that only a solicitor can do is passed to the regulated firms it names.

What's worth a look

  • Wills: a Will for one person currently starts at £295 including VAT (prices can change). It suits anyone who needs to name guardians, executors and who inherits what.
  • Complimentary Will: £0 if you're eligible through a partner scheme. It is the standard Will without trusts, and covers you alone or you and your partner, depending on the scheme.
  • Trusts and Lasting Powers of Attorney: fixed fees are given after your consultation, so the price is on request. Squiggle says clients who choose paid services typically spend between £500 and £2,500 in total.
  • LegacyGuard: from £4 a month. It is an aftercare plan with secure storage for documents and digital records, unlimited Will updates, a legal helpline and up to two hours of probate help for your executors. Couples can have two vaults on one payment.
  • Probate: tailored help with estate administration, priced on request.

Squiggle aims to send draft documents within 18 working days of receiving your information and payment. If you agree to the service at home or over Zoom, you have 14 days to cancel.

  • LegacyGuard from £4 a month. This covers storage and updates for your documents.

How to save more

  • Check with your employer, union or a charity you support whether they offer a complimentary Will through Squiggle.
  • Ask for every fee in writing after the consultation. Fees are fixed and include VAT, so you can compare them with other quotes.
  • If you'd like to spread the cost, Squiggle accepts Klarna where available, as well as card, bank transfer, PayPal and cheque.
