The Stencil Studio is a family business in Brimscombe, near Stroud, that makes reusable laser-cut stencils. It began with founder Nikki cutting stencils at home for her toddler's bedroom. Her sister Clare joined in 2007, and the studio has since moved from hand-cut stencils to laser cutting and added hundreds of designs.

It suits anyone thinking about a budget makeover: refreshing tired bathroom or kitchen tiles, painting a patterned floor or patio, updating a piece of furniture or decorating a nursery. Crafters also use the smaller designs for cards and tags. The site has how-to guides and project ideas, and the studio will cut custom stencils from your own artwork or logo.

The stencils are cut from Mylar, a tough plastic film that can be cleaned and used again, so one tile stencil can cover a whole splashback. Collections include tile patterns, trees, Indian and mandala, Scandi, Moroccan, shabby chic, lettering, animals and Christmas. Orders are usually dispatched within one to three working days.
