Stories Flooring is an online flooring retailer based in Leeds. The business started more than 25 years ago as Lifestyle Flooring UK and switched to the Stories name in November 2020. It sells engineered and solid wood, luxury vinyl tiles (LVT), rigid SPC click vinyl, sheet vinyl and laminate, along with underlay, adhesive and fitting accessories. Its own Lusso Flooring label covers many of the herringbone and plank floors. It suits homeowners planning a room refit as well as trade buyers.

Prices are shown per square metre and floors are sold in whole packs. Klarna finance is offered, and a price match promise applies if you find the same floor for less.

What's worth a look

• Lusso Rome Herringbone Smoked Brushed & Lacquered Engineered Oak: a dark herringbone engineered oak, 15mm thick in 1.872m² packs, currently £49.99 per m² against a previous £105.76.
• Lusso Uniqo Herringbone Invisible Engineered Oak: an engineered oak herringbone with an invisible (raw-look) finish, currently £29.99 per m² in the sale (was £79.99).
• Textures Old English Oak Herringbone TH02 LVT: a 2.5mm glue-down vinyl with a 0.55mm wear layer and a 30-year warranty, currently £35.99 per m². There is a six-pack (15m²) minimum.
• Lusso Florence Golden Handscraped Solid Oak 150mm: a solid oak plank with a hand-scraped surface, currently £39.99 per m² (was £76.99).

Prices can change, and the total depends on how many packs your room needs. The site also has guides on underlay, installation and cleaning for each floor type, which are worth reading before you choose between wood, LVT and laminate.

How to save more

• Order your floor, underlay and adhesive together. Standard delivery is a flat £39.99 per order, so one combined delivery costs less than two.
• Measure carefully and add a small allowance for cuts. Unopened spare packs can be returned within 30 days, but you arrange and pay for the return transport.
• Next working day delivery is available on orders placed before 12pm, but standard delivery takes only two to three working days for in-stock floors, so check whether you really need the faster option. Some Scottish, island and remote postcodes carry a surcharge, so ask first if you live in one.
