Weather Spares is an online shop run from Barrow, near Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk, that sells electronic weather stations, sensors and spare parts. It is a good fit for keen gardeners, schools, smallholders and anyone who wants to record the weather in their own garden, whether that is a simple indoor display with a forecast or a full sensor array on a pole that uploads readings to the internet.

The shop stocks brands including Ecowitt, Davis Instruments, Ventus, GARNI and TFA. Many stations can send data to online services such as Weather Underground, WeatherCloud and Davis WeatherLink, and the team supports the BBC Weather Watchers scheme. There's no showroom, but you can get advice before you buy and help with setting up afterwards by live chat, email or phone on 01284 847820.

What's worth a look

• GARNI 291 Colour Weather Station with Forecast is a straightforward entry point with a colour display, currently £65.
• Ecowitt WS3800/WS3900 pairs a 7.5-inch display with a 7-in-1 outdoor sensor and WiFi, currently from £139.
• Ecowitt HP2564 WittBoy Pro uses a sonic wind sensor and a haptic rain sensor with a 7-inch colour screen, currently £290.
• Davis Vantage Vue with WeatherLink Console is the shop's best-known Davis station, with a WiFi touchscreen console, currently £625.
• Climalytic Tropo Professional Rain Gauge is a manual gauge approved for the CoCoRaHS volunteer network, currently £75.

Current offers

• Free UK standard tracked delivery on orders of £150 or more. Below that, standard tracked delivery costs £4.70 and usually takes 3-5 working days.
• Selected Davis Vantage Vue and Pro2 stations and sensor suites have lower prices and a three-year warranty.
• The Climalytic Tropo rain gauge is on sale at £75, down from £85.
• Ecowitt weather stations and selected sensors now come with a two-year warranty as standard.

How to save more

• Build up to the £150 free-delivery threshold by adding the sensors you would buy later anyway, such as a soil moisture or lightning sensor, to the same order.
• Ecowitt stations are modular, so you can start with a base station and add sensors over time instead of paying for everything up front.
• Weather Spares does not price match, but its terms say it may give a further discount on multi-item orders at its discretion, so ask before placing a larger order.

If you already own a station, the shop is also worth knowing about for replacement parts, such as anemometers for Davis stations, and for its blog, which covers practical jobs like cleaning a rain gauge after a dry spell or checking a wind sensor before autumn storms.

Returns are accepted on unused, complete items: you have 14 days from delivery to cancel, then a further 14 days to send the goods back at your own cost.
