Winebuyers is an online marketplace where independent vineyards, breweries, distillers and specialist merchants list their bottles in one place. Instead of buying stock and reselling it, the site lets each seller set its own price and send the order direct, and it says it adds no mark-up or commission. That makes it handy if you like browsing smaller producers, want a particular vintage, or are putting together a gift that mixes wine, beer and spirits.

The UK site shows prices in pounds, and you need a free Winebuyers Club account to check out. Buyers must be 18 or over. The website is now run by Winebuyers B.V. in Amsterdam, and because each seller handles its own shipping, it is sensible to check the delivery and returns details on each product before you order.

The catalogue is broad. As well as red, white and sparkling wine from France, Spain, South Africa, England and elsewhere, there are sections for beer, spirits, glassware, coffee, tea, gifts and hampers, plus bakery, butcher and fishmonger listings from smaller food producers. Filters for country, region, grape, price and food pairing help narrow things down.
