zChocolat is a French chocolate gift company based in Forcalquier, in Provence. It was founded online in 1999 and its recipes are signed by the chocolatier Pascal Caffet. Orders are packed at the company's own workshop and sent by FedEx Express in temperature-controlled packaging, which makes it an option for sending a present to someone in the UK or abroad without leaving the house.
It suits people looking for a smart gift for a birthday, a thank you or Christmas, and businesses sending boxes to clients. The site shows prices in euros by default, so switch the currency to GBP at the top of the page to see pounds. The prices below are as shown in pounds.
The range is wider than you might expect. Alongside the classic assortments there are chocolate bars, Rochers, pâtes de fruits, gold-leaf pieces, a 70% dark chocolate selection and party favours for weddings and events. At checkout you can add a message, choose a card design and, on some boxes, pick the chocolates yourself, which helps if the person you are buying for avoids nuts or gluten. The FAQ lists which of the recipes contain gluten, and only a handful do, so you can plan around that when choosing a selection for someone with an intolerance.
Delivery to the UK goes by FedEx Express from France, and the parcel needs a signature on arrival, so it is worth sending it to an address where someone will be in.
