The Big Little Duvet Co. sells extra large single duvets. Where a standard single duvet measures 135 x 200cm, theirs is 165 x 220cm, so there is more to tuck in at the sides and the feet. The business started when its founder, Sue, got fed up with her two tall teenage sons waking up cold under ordinary singles and found nobody selling a bigger single duvet at a sensible price.

It suits tall teenagers and adults in single beds, long single and IKEA single beds, and couples who prefer separate duvets: two of these sit side by side on a king, super king or emperor bed. Duvets are made in the UK with hollowfibre filling and are machine washable.

The brand keeps packaging to a minimum. Duvets and cover sets are packed in recyclable sugar cane bags, and the paperwork is printed on recyclable paper. UK and Republic of Ireland orders go out by DHL next day or Royal Mail depending on parcel size. Customers in other countries can order by email and pay by invoice, but may have import duties to pay on delivery.

What's worth a look

• The 10.5 tog extra large single duvet with a soft microfibre cover is currently £59.99, a good weight for autumn and winter. There are also 2.5, 4.5, 7.5 and 13.5 tog versions.
• Duvet cover sets come with two pillowcases. Plain polycotton sets such as Sky Blue are currently £39.99, and 100% cotton designs such as the reversible Scandi Blok Navy are currently £59.99.
• The student bedding set is currently £89.99 and includes a 10.5 tog extra large duvet, a polycotton cover set and a pillow with two pillowcases.

• For pets, the small to medium dog bed duvet with cover is currently £39.99. It rolls up with a carry strap and the cover goes in the washing machine.

• Choose the tog carefully, as sale items can't be returned. The store's FAQ suggests 2.5 or 4.5 tog for summer, 7.5 for all seasons and 10.5 or 13.5 for winter, and you can put the 2.5 tog in the same cover as another duvet for extra warmth.
