Da Luna is a London womenswear label founded in 2023 by Hong, who named it after her grandmother, Luna. The clothes take Chinese craft traditions, such as Chinese knot buttons, hand embroidery and mud-dyed silk, and put them into jackets, vests and kimonos you could wear with jeans. It's a designer label with prices to match, so it suits people buying one special piece rather than a whole wardrobe.
The range runs from kimonos, vests and cropped jackets to trench coats, blazers, wide-leg trousers, skirts and dresses, with bags, belts and caps alongside. There's also a wedding edit and a section of one-of-a-kind pieces, which are worth a look if you want something nobody else at the party will have.
The fabric to know is mud-dyed silk. The brand explains on its site that the silk is dyed with yam root, dried in the sun and coated in river mud in Guangdong, which leaves one side a glossy black and the other a warm terracotta.
What's worth a look
- Rose Mud-Dyed Mulberry Silk Kimono: one of the brand's signature kimono shapes, currently £880.
- Embroidered Vest with Bird and Floral Motifs: an easy way into the look over a plain shirt or knit, currently £390.
- Midnight Cameo Bag: one of several small statement bags, currently £290.
- Heritage Pattern Socks: the most affordable way to try the brand's patterns, currently £49.
- Jade Green Floral Dress with Cut-Out Detail: in the sale at the time of writing, currently £245, down from £490.
Prices can change, and many pieces come in only a few sizes, so check what's left before you set your heart on something.
