Forestalgia is a London design studio founded by Emmanuel Lawal. It works across furniture, jewellery and accessories, has shown work at events such as London Design Biennale and Frieze, and has collaborated with a number of other brands. Lawal was named one of the Design Council's 25 Trailblazers for 2025.
The online shop focuses on one product for now: Orbit, a circular hair comb. The round shape is designed to give you a better grip, make styling larger sections easier and put less strain on your wrist. A magnetic snap folds it shut so it's easy to carry in a bag. Each comb is made almost entirely from recycled acetate in a black and orange tortoiseshell finish. It suits anyone who wants a well-made everyday comb, and it's a thoughtful gift, especially with initials added.
What's worth a look
- Neptune, currently £60. The afro comb version of Orbit, for detangling and styling thicker, curlier hair.
- Mercury, currently £60. The wide-tooth comb, good for working through longer or wavy hair.
- Jupiter, currently £60. The fine-tooth version, for smoothing and neat partings.
- Personalised name engraving, currently £7. Initials are added by hand before dispatch, which takes an extra 48 hours.
All three combs measure 11.5cm by 12cm and come in the same tortoiseshell finish, so the choice really comes down to your hair type. At £60 it's priced as a design piece rather than an everyday plastic comb, so it makes most sense if you care about how it looks and feels, or want to give someone a keepsake they'll actually use. Engraved initials help with that. Orders ship from London, with UK delivery within five working days. The studio also sends to Europe, the Middle East, North America, Asia, Africa and Australasia, though orders outside the UK may have to pay import charges on arrival.
The site's Showcase section is worth a browse too. It covers the studio's furniture collection, Modular 001, along with past events and collaborations, and gives a good sense of the design thinking behind the comb.
