Lyca Mobile has been around since 2006 and is best known for making it cheap to call abroad. It's a virtual network, so it rents capacity from an established network rather than building its own masts, which helps keep its prices low. In the UK it sells SIM-only and eSIM plans with no contract and no credit check, and most of them include 100 international minutes to selected countries.
It suits people who regularly ring family or friends overseas, anyone who wants a cheap second SIM, and travellers who need some EU roaming data. If you'd rather fix your bill, there are 12 and 24-month versions of the plans too.
What's worth a look
- UK Plan Smart: 5GB of data, 1,000 UK minutes and texts, 100 international minutes and EU roaming. Currently £3.50 for the first 30 days for new online customers, then £5 a month.
- National Plus: 30GB of data with unlimited UK calls and texts, 100 international minutes and 12GB usable in the EU. Currently £5 for the first month, then £10 a month.
- UK Plan Super Extra and Mega Plus: 75GB and 120GB plans with EU and India roaming, listed at £7.50 and £10 for 30 days on the pay-as-you-go page when we checked.
- UK Plan Unlimited: unlimited data, UK calls and texts, 100 international minutes and 35GB usable in the EU and India. Currently £12.50 for the first month, then £25 a month. A fair usage policy applies.
- eSIM: skip the plastic SIM if your phone supports it. Lyca says eSIMs need to be activated in the UK before you use them abroad.

The terms printed with these offers give an end date of 30 September 2026, but they were still showing on the site when we checked in early October, so check the plan page before you order. We didn't see any discount codes on the Lyca site.
How to save more
- Buy online. The first-month prices are for new customers ordering through the website and aren't available in shops.
- Choose by the countries you call. All the plans above include 100 international minutes, but roaming data differs: some cover the EU only, while others add India or China.
- Bring your number with you. Get a PAC code from your current network and Lyca says your number will move across within two working days.
