Má + Lin is a small womenswear label that works almost entirely in linen. It was started in London in 2021 by Yue Jiang, a former fashion buyer, and the name joins the Chinese and French words for linen. The clothes are made in Portugal from European linen certified under Masters of Linen, much of it Belgian, and each style is made in limited numbers rather than to a seasonal calendar.
It suits anyone who would rather buy fewer, longer-lasting pieces and likes a simple, French-influenced look. Prices are higher than on the high street, and the brand is open about where its fabric comes from and who makes its clothes.
The core of the range is a small set of blouse shapes in a palette of colours, from white, natural and black to marigold, jade, primrose and gingham. Every so often the brand works with an artist on embroidered versions, such as its collaborations with Laetitia Rouget and Sshepaints, and these are made in small numbers too. Some colours and sizes are sold on pre-order, so the product page is worth checking for dispatch timing before you buy.
