Pixie Dixie is a small family business in Manchester that makes children's nightwear. Its pyjamas, nightdresses, baby sleepsuits and blankets come in a handful of cheerful prints, from dinosaurs and tractors to clouds, bees and unicorns, and the Made in the UK range is produced with British suppliers. The shop says each of those garments travels less than 200 miles before it's posted to you.
It suits parents and grandparents who want matching bedtime sets made close to home, and anyone after a gift for a baby or young child. The cotton is treated with Micro-Fresh, which the brand says keeps nightwear feeling fresh between washes, and pieces are made to be tumble-dried and worn without ironing. Sizes mostly run from 1-2 years to 9-10 years.
Standard orders are sent by Evri or Royal Mail and usually arrive a couple of working days after dispatch. Every print is offered across several items, so it's easy to buy matching pyjamas for siblings, or a sleepsuit and blanket in the same design for a new baby.
What's worth a look
- Dinosaur Crew Neck Pyjamas, currently £30. A looser-fitting crew neck set with an elasticated waist, printed with a grey brontosaurus, stegosaurus and triceratops. The same style comes in trains, tractors, clouds, bees and unicorns.
- Tractor Sleepsuit, currently £20. A white baby sleepsuit with a green tractor print and grey trim, and one of several prints in the babywear range.
- Crown Nightdress, currently £20. A traditional long-sleeved nightdress with a relaxed fit; the cloud, confetti and unicorn versions are also in the nightdress collection.
- Dinosaur Blanket, currently £30. A double-thickness 80cm x 80cm blanket that pairs with the matching pyjamas and sleepsuit, and makes a tidy new-baby present.
- Paint Your Own Pyjamas, currently £15 (was £20). A kit with plain white pyjamas, seven fabric paints, a brush and design ideas, for children who'd like to decorate their own. This one is made in Turkey rather than the UK.
