Susan Caplan is a London jewellery business that has been finding, checking and reselling vintage costume jewellery since 2008. Its founder grew up in a family of antique dealers in Camden Passage, and her pieces have been sold in museum shops including the V&A and the Met in New York. The site lists earrings, necklaces, bracelets, cuffs and brooches from the mid-20th century onwards, from big fashion houses and from American costume-jewellery makers such as Monet and Trifari. It suits anyone who wants a designer name for less than a new piece would cost, people who like owning something nobody else has, and gift buyers looking for something with a story. Prices are in pounds, and international orders are sent with taxes and duties already included.

What's worth a look

• 1980s Vintage Gold Plated Leaf Post Earrings, currently £55. From the 'Rediscovered by Susan Caplan' range of unbranded vintage pieces, a sensible starting point if you're new to vintage. Note that post earrings can't be returned.
