Hobbycraft is the UK's big arts and crafts chain, selling everything from card and paint to sewing, knitting, baking supplies and kids' craft kits. It suits seasoned makers, parents looking for rainy-day projects and anyone planning homemade decorations or gifts. It also runs in-store craft workshops, and its free ideas section has projects and patterns, such as a crochet autumn wreath. Right now the site is focused on Halloween and Christmas, with bundles, kids' kits and party supplies for both.
What's worth a look
- Mini Ceramic Pumpkins 4 Pack: currently £3. These are blank pumpkins for painting or decorating, from the blank pumpkins range, which also includes a Ceramic Pumpkin 17cm at £6. A cheap autumn activity for kids or a table decoration. Prices can change.
- Make Your Own Macramé Christmas Decorations Kit 4 Pack: currently £9. A grown-up project for an evening in, making tree decorations.
- Paint Your Own Christmas Decorations Kit 8 Pack: currently £4. Simple enough for children. The Christmas craft kits range also had a Make Your Own Nutcracker Kit 3 Pack at £2.
- Silver Jewellery Accessories Kit: currently £7.50, down from £10, as part of the jewellery-making offer. Handy if you're starting out and need clasps and findings in one go. The Gemstones Bead Set is also £7.50 (was £10), and smaller packs like Silver-Plated Ear Wires 10 Pack are £1.50 (was £2). That makes it a cheap time to try the hobby or restock basics.
