Matalan is a long-running British value retailer selling clothing for women, men and kids, plus homeware, baby and nursery kit, school uniform and, at this time of year, a growing Christmas shop. What's worth a look

- Use click and collect for small orders. According to Matalan's delivery page, standard home delivery costs £3.99 unless you spend over £49.99. Click and collect is free from £19.99, or £0.99 below that, so it's the cheaper choice for a couple of candles or a cushion.
- Stack the multibuys. The 3 for 2 offers on Christmas decorations and wrapping make it worth buying everything for the season in one order, rather than topping up later.
- Return to a store. Matalan lets you return online orders in store as well as by post, so you can try sizes at home without paying for postage back.
