Premier Inn is one of the UK's biggest budget hotel chains, with more than 800 hotels across the country and a growing number in Germany. Rooms are simple and consistent: a comfy bed, en-suite bathroom and Freeview TV. It suits families, business travellers and anyone who wants a dependable base for a city break without paying for extras they won't use.
What's worth a look
- Half-term breaks: with October half-term coming up, Premier Inn's half-term page suggests UK days out, including free attractions, to keep a family break affordable. Kids can stay free with a paying adult, so a family room can stretch further than you'd think.
- Christmas market breaks: the 2026 guide covers markets in Manchester, Edinburgh, Winchester, Birmingham, York, Bath, Liverpool and Belfast, with links to the nearest hotels. It's useful if you're planning a festive weekend away before the busiest dates fill up.
- hub by Premier Inn: smaller, smart-tech rooms in London and Edinburgh, with touchscreen room controls, monsoon showers, free Wi-Fi and 40-inch TVs. A good fit if location matters more to you than space.
- ZIP by Premier Inn: a no-frills option in Cardiff with small rooms and prices from £25 a night, according to Premier Inn. It suits solo travellers or anyone who just needs somewhere to sleep.
Room prices go up and down with demand and dates, so treat any "from" price as a starting point.

The offers page says the unlimited breakfast starts at £10.99, although it notes some restaurants charge £11.99 or £13.99. Premier Inn is also running 10% off its own mattresses and beds this autumn, if you've ever wanted the hotel bed at home.
How to save more
- Be flexible with dates. Premier Inn's own advice is that Friday and Sunday nights are often its cheapest, and that the lowest prices usually go to people who book well in advance.
- Look just outside the centre. Hotels a short hop from a city centre are often cheaper than those in the middle, and the site shows all available rooms across nearby hotels.
- Book direct and add the Meal Deal. Premier Inn says its lowest room rates are only on premierinn.com and its app. If you'll eat in anyway, the Meal Deal, plus free breakfasts for up to two kids, is where families save the most.
