Lunar Artefacts is a small London design studio started by an architect and an automotive designer. It makes everyday desk objects, such as a wireless mouse, a phone charger and a screwdriver, using full-grain leather, aluminium and brass, and builds them so worn parts can be swapped rather than the whole thing binned. The prices reflect that approach, so this is a shop for people who'd rather buy one well-made desk piece than replace a cheap one every couple of years, or for anyone hunting for a gift for someone with a carefully arranged home office.
What's worth a look
- Pointer Instrument - Lunar Shadow, currently £240. This is the studio's signature mouse: ambidextrous, with black calf leather over a chrome-plated aluminium body. It connects by Bluetooth, a 2.4G dongle or USB-C, and charges on any Qi wireless pad. The battery, switches and top shell can all be replaced, and you can have it engraved.
- Pointer Instrument - Nudus Blanc, currently £81.25 (was £125). The same hand-assembled mouse with a translucent white top and a powder-coated aluminium base instead of leather. It's the cheapest way into the range, and other colours such as Umbra Noire and Emerald Blanc are at the same price.
- RotaMaster Screwdriver - Volante, currently £155 on pre-order. A polished aluminium electric precision screwdriver with 24 bits, nine torque settings and a USB-C rechargeable battery, sold in a storage case. It suits people who tinker with glasses, watches, game controllers or small electronics. The site gives an estimated two-week lead time.
- Pulse Volitari - Lunar Shadow, currently £180. A wireless phone charging pad in black leather with a chrome-plated brass base, which can also top up the Pointer Instrument mouse. Other leather colours cost £260.
- Leverage bottle openers, from £55. Heavy, mirror-polished stainless steel openers in two sizes, and the most affordable gift in the full-price range.
Current offers
- Corporate buyers can get 20% off corporate orders through the offer in our list. Lunar Artefacts also does engraving with names or logos for business gifts.
- New customers get 15% off their first order by signing up to the newsletter.
- Code PREORDER25, shown on the homepage, gives 25% off the RotaMaster Volante screwdriver while it's on pre-order.

How to save more
- If you already own a Pointer Instrument, you don't need a new mouse for a fresh look: replacement tops, metal scroll wheels, grips and switches are sold separately in the accessories and parts range, and some frosted tops are just £5.
- UK delivery is £3.95 by Royal Mail 48 or £9.95 for DPD next day, so pick the cheaper option unless you need it quickly.
