47 Skin is a UK brand for blemish-prone skin. The story goes that founder Nic Taylor's grandmother posted him a pot of cream made by a group of Yorkshire scientists who had been working with silver for water filters. He tracked them down, and the ingredient is now trademarked as Silver Chitoderm. The products are made in the UK and sent out from Northampton.

The range is small: a serum, cleanser, peel-off mask, moisturiser, SPF, exfoliating treatments and a couple of body products. That makes it easy to find your way around, and it suits teenagers and adults who want a short routine rather than a shelf full of bottles.

The serum is the product the brand started with. At £16, the 15ml trial size lasts about two weeks and is the cheaper way to see whether it suits you. If you already know you want several steps, the 3 Step Treatment Bundle is £74, compared with a regular price of £82.

The bundles show how the products fit together. They run from the 2 Step Cleanse & Protect set up to a 5 Step routine and a Complete Routine Bundle, so you can start small and add to it later.
