Direct-Running: discounted running shoes from France, priced in pounds

A French running specialist with Mizuno, Saucony, adidas and Nike shoes well below list price, but £16.99 delivery to the UK.

Direct-Running is a French online running shop with an English-language UK site that prices everything in pounds. It belongs to Spacefoot, a group that runs a family of specialist sports shops, and it ships from a warehouse in the Loire valley. The range covers road and trail running shoes, clothing, hiking kit, GPS watches and nutrition from brands including adidas, Nike, Saucony, Mizuno, Puma, Under Armour, Garmin and La Sportiva. It suits runners who know their model and size and want to compare prices on last season's colours.

The important thing for UK buyers is delivery: parcels come from France by FedEx for £16.99, arriving in 2 to 6 working days after a day or two's processing. Sizes are listed in EU sizing, and the shipping page doesn't say whether any import charges apply, so check the total at checkout before you pay.

The Mizuno Wave Rider 29, a long-running neutral daily trainer, was £87.32 against a listed £136.59, and the plateless Saucony Endorphin Azura was £102.44. For the trails, the Nike ReactX Pegasus Trail 5 was £119.51. The biggest cuts we saw were on the adidas Adizero Boston 13 and the Under Armour Velociti Distance, both £81.95 in some sizes.

Beyond shoes, the clearance section had more than 8,500 discounted products when we looked, including Garmin watch straps and running clothing.

Each product page also shows a small credit you'll earn towards your next order once your purchase is confirmed. You can pay by card, Apple Pay or PayPal, which offers three interest-free instalments. Returns can be started within 30 days of delivery from your account, but items must be unworn, in their original box with labels attached, and you cover the cost of sending them back unless they're faulty.

Current offers

Codes can't be combined, so use whichever saves the most.

How to save more

  • Add the £16.99 delivery charge before comparing prices with UK shops: it matters more on one pair than on a bigger order.
  • Check the price for your size, as the "starting at" price on a shoe page may only apply to some sizes.
  • You pay the return postage to France, so check the size guide before ordering.
