Cosyfeet began in 1983 with a range of extra roomy slippers sold through a small mail order catalogue, after its founder saw care home residents cutting up their shoes to fit swollen feet. Today it is run from Street in Somerset, where it also has a shop, and sells shoes, boots, trainers, sandals and slippers alongside socks, hosiery and foot care.

Every style is made to a generous fitting, 6E for women and 3H for men, with adjustable designs to cope with different foot shapes and levels of swelling, so it suits anyone who struggles to find shoes wide or deep enough on the high street. It's also a thoughtful place to shop for an older relative: you can order online, by phone or from the printed catalogue.

Fabric shoes and most of the slippers are made in the UK, while leather styles come from workshops in Portugal and Spain. The socks and hosiery come in standard and extra roomy versions, many of them seam-free, and the foot care and wellbeing section adds practical extras such as insoles, sock aids and bathing helpers. Cosyfeet backs it all with a No Quibble Guarantee: UK customers have 90 days to return a product for an exchange or refund.

Standard UK delivery is £5.75 per order, and orders in stock are usually despatched within a day by Royal Mail Tracked. If you need something quickly, Tracked Priority Despatch costs £7.50 and guarantees same-day despatch for orders placed before 2pm on weekdays.

What's worth a look

With colder months coming, here are some of the slippers and socks Cosyfeet is best known for, plus a clearance shoe.

Slippers are the heart of the range. Richie is a simple men's style, while women can choose from styles like Hannah and Snuggly. The socks are worth a look too, especially the Super-soft Seam-free Bed Socks, sold in packs of two pairs.
