LawDepot is an online legal document builder with a dedicated UK site. Instead of downloading a blank template and guessing what goes where, you answer a short questionnaire and it builds the document around your answers, ready to print, download or email. It's aimed at the paperwork that comes up in ordinary life and small businesses: renting out a room, lending money to a friend, selling a car, taking on a freelancer or writing a firm complaint.

The first question is usually where you are, because documents are tailored to England, Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland, and some aren't available everywhere. For example, its Power of Attorney form is only offered for Scotland and Northern Ireland. It's a template service, not a law firm, so for anything high-stakes or unusual it's worth getting proper advice.

Alongside the six picks below, the UK range includes employment contracts and offer letters, non-disclosure agreements, rent increase and eviction notices, a CV builder and cover letters. Documents that can legally be signed electronically can go through its eSign tool, but wills and deeds that need a physical witness still have to be printed and signed in person.

Pricing is set out in its help centre. A one-year Pro subscription costs £83.88 to £119.88 a year, which works out at £6.99 to £9.99 a month, for unlimited documents. A single document costs £7.50 to £109 depending on the form. There's also a free seven-day trial, but it needs card details and rolls into a monthly plan at £33 to £47 unless you cancel.

What's worth a look

Six everyday UK documents from LawDepot's range.

The Flatmate Agreement is handy for sharers who want bills, rent and house rules agreed in writing, and the Complaint Letter walks you through a clear, structured complaint about a product or service.

Current offers

We don't have a LawDepot code yet. On the site itself:

  • A free 7-day trial lets you create, download and print as many documents as you need during that week. It renews at £33 to £47 a month unless you cancel online.
  • The 1-year Pro subscription works out from £6.99 a month, billed annually.

How to save more

  • Have all your paperwork ready before starting the free trial. You can then create every document you need in one week and cancel before it renews.
  • If you only need one form, check the single-document price at checkout, as it can be far cheaper than a subscription.
  • Get your UK nation right at the start so you don't pay for a document drafted under the wrong rules.
