NO GUNK is a small London grooming brand started by Sal Essa, who set it up at 21 after growing tired of crunchy gel and sticky waxes. The pitch is in the name: hair styling products made with natural and organic ingredients that hold your style without leaving a greasy residue on your hands. Its Styling Funk wax won Best Male Hair Product at the PURE Beauty Awards in 2018, and the products are made in the UK and described as cruelty-free.
It suits men (and anyone else) who style their hair daily and want something easy to wash out, or who are trying to move to products with shorter, plant-based ingredient lists. The range is small enough to understand quickly: three stylers with different holds, a sea salt spray pre-styler, a shampoo, a scalp exfoliator, combs and gift sets.
Ordering is straightforward. UK delivery is free over £50, otherwise £3.99 by Royal Mail Tracked 48, with Tracked 24 at £4.99 and DPD next day at £5.99 if you're in a hurry. NO GUNK also ships worldwide, and you can pay by card, PayPal or Apple Pay. If you have questions about which product suits your hair type, the team answers email on weekdays and takes calls between 10am and 4pm.

NO GUNK says a 50g tin typically lasts two to three months, and recommends a fingertip-sized amount warmed between your hands on towel-dried hair. For a softer, textured look that washes out easily, the water-based Funky Flex Cream is the gentler choice, and the Sea Salt Spray is designed to go on first to add volume before you style.
