Lebara: cheap SIM only plans with international minutes included

Lebara is a SIM only mobile network that uses Vodafone's UK network. It began in 2001 selling international calling cards, and that background still shows: every plan includes minutes to over 50 countries from the UK. It suits people who ring family abroad, students and anyone on a tight budget, and there's no credit check and no long contract. Monthly plans roll every 30 days, so you can change or leave whenever you like.

All plans include 5G, and roaming in the EU and India is included up to 30GB. Lebara says it hasn't raised the price of its SIM only plans since 2020 and won't in 2026. The SIM itself is free, and if you order before 3pm on a weekday it usually arrives the next working day.

The 30GB Monthly Plan at £10 is labelled "Great Value", with unlimited UK minutes and texts and 100 international minutes. If you're happy to commit for a year, the Unlimited Data 12-Month Plan costs £22.50 a month, compared with £25 on the 30-day version.

The smaller 5GB plans come with 1,000 UK minutes and texts. From 30GB upwards, UK minutes and texts are unlimited, and the bigger plans add more international minutes. The 100GB and unlimited plans with unlimited international minutes also include 1,000 minutes to India. You'll need a 5G-compatible phone to use 5G, and WiFi Calling and 4G Calling are supported. If you need help, customer service is on 5588 from a Lebara SIM, 7am to 11pm every day.

Current offers

Through Voucher Magpie you can use code SAVE50 for half price, code LEBARA10 to get 30GB plans for £2.49 a month for the first three months, and code LEBARA5 to get 5GB plans for £1.49 a month for the first three months.

Lebara's own site also offers:

• 5GB extra data for 30 days when you bring your existing number.
• Refer a friend: they get 50% off their first three months, and you get up to £50.
• A free pay-as-you-go SIM, sent by Royal Mail.

How to save more

• Choose the 12-month version if you'll stay. It's cheaper every month: £9 rather than £10 for 30GB, and £22.50 rather than £25 for unlimited data.
• Keep your number. Text PAC to 65075 on your current network, then enter the code at lebara.co.uk/portin to move your number and get the 5GB bonus.
• Top up rather than upgrade. If you only run out now and then, a 1GB data add-on is £3, so you don't need to move to a bigger plan.
