Stories Of Bible is a small independent publisher with one clear idea: the Bible wasn't written in the order things happened, so it lays the story out for you. Its books put timelines, maps, family trees and short summaries side by side with chapter and verse references, so you can see where a passage fits before you read it. They're designed to sit open next to your own Bible, not replace it, and the publisher says it keeps to the text and leaves denominational debates aside.

The books suit new believers looking for a starting point, long-time readers who want to see the connections, and parents, grandparents, homeschool families and small-group leaders who need to explain a passage clearly. They're printed and posted rather than downloaded, and UK orders are sent from a fulfilment centre in the UK.

What's worth a look

Six titles from the Stories Of Bible library, with prices as shown when the currency is set to pounds.

The obvious place to start is The Bible: Made Simple, which comes as an Old Testament volume, a New Testament volume or both together. If one book keeps losing you, the single-book guides go deeper: Daniel: Made Simple covers all twelve chapters with maps, name tables and symbol charts to help you follow the visions, while Revelation: Made Simple breaks that book down vision by vision.

For something lighter, 7 Most Misunderstood Bible Stories Explained looks at familiar stories such as Noah, Jonah and Babel and compares what the text actually says with the version most of us remember. At £14.95 it's also the cheapest way to try the format before committing to one of the bigger guides, and it would make a thoughtful small gift for a Sunday school teacher or a friend in your home group.
