About Norwich Foodbank

Norwich Foodbank is a local Christian charity and part of the Trussell network of foodbanks. It gives three days of nutritionally balanced emergency food to individuals and families in and around Norwich who reach a crisis, whether through illness, a family breakup, a benefit delay, redundancy or an unexpected bill.

The charity was set up as a company in 2009, the foodbank opened in 2010, and it joined the Charity Commission register in 2011. Food is given by the public at supermarkets, churches, schools and harvest festivals, then sorted at its warehouse in Norwich and handed out at 11 distribution centres, most of them in churches.

People are referred with a foodbank voucher from local agencies such as Citizens Advice, health visitors and social services. At the centres they get a warm drink, a food parcel and, if they want it, help finding advice on what caused the crisis. By its own figures, it supported 10,842 people in 2025, 3,472 of them children. The register lists 9 trustees and 180 volunteers.

Every time a supporter shops online through Voucher Magpie with Norwich Foodbank chosen, we donate 50% of the commission the shop pays us to Norwich Foodbank, at no extra cost to the shopper.
