About Shelter

Shelter is a housing and homelessness charity working in England and Scotland. It was formed in 1966 in response to a national housing crisis.

It gives advice and support to people who are homeless or struggling with bad housing, through an emergency helpline, online advice and webchat, and local services offering one-to-one help. Its solicitors provide free legal advice and representation in cases such as eviction. It also carries out research and campaigns for changes to housing policy.
