About British Red Cross

The British Red Cross is a humanitarian charity that helps people in crisis in the UK and abroad. It was founded in 1870 and is part of the international Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement.

Its volunteers and staff respond to natural disasters, conflicts and individual emergencies, and help people recover and move on once the crisis is over. It also provides health and care support in communities and helps vulnerable people at home and overseas prepare for emergencies. It runs charity shops and relies on volunteers for much of its work.
