CO2 Impact is a carbon reporting platform from Leeds, built for small and medium-sized businesses that need to measure their emissions but can't justify paying a consultant to do it. It's run by CO2 Impact Ltd, set up in 2024, and it's aimed squarely at firms that are being asked for carbon figures by customers, tenders or lenders, or that need to meet SECR (Streamlined Energy and Carbon Reporting) rules.

The pitch is that you don't need any technical knowledge. The platform guides you through what to enter, keeps a record you can update each year, and turns the numbers into reports you can hand to whoever is asking. If you'd rather have a person check your work, you can book consultancy support by the hour. CO2 Impact also runs schemes for affiliates and sustainability consultants who want to use the platform with their own clients.

You add your data by uploading bills or Excel and CSV files, or through a mobile data collection app, and the platform works out your Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions across all 15 Scope 3 categories. An AI check flags data that looks wrong, and every plan produces a carbon reduction plan and standard reports.

What's worth a look

There are four plans plus a few add-ons. These are the annual prices before VAT, as listed on the site when we checked.

For most small firms the Professional plan at £599 a year is the one the site flags as most popular: three users, three sites and advanced reports. If you need SECR reporting or your own bespoke metrics, you have to go up to Premium (£729 a year), which also adds an extended support team.

Current offers

• Paying annually rather than monthly saves up to 20%. All licences have a 12-month commitment either way.
• The Basic plan works out at £39 a month when paid annually (£468 a year plus VAT).

We didn't see any free trial or discount code on the site, but there's a demo video on the homepage if you want to see the platform first.

How to save more

• Count users and sites before choosing a plan. Adding an extra user (£6 a month) or site (£8 a month) to a smaller plan can cost less than moving up a tier.
• Only pay for SECR if you need it. It's included from Premium up, so smaller businesses that aren't covered by SECR can stay on a cheaper plan.
• If you have lots of meters, the automated electricity and gas data add-ons cost less per meter on the bigger plans, falling from £3 to £2 a meter each month for electricity.
