Drecov: free scan, then pay to recover deleted files on Windows

Drecov is data recovery software for Windows PCs from PandaOffice. If you've deleted photos by mistake, formatted the wrong USB stick or found an SD card that suddenly won't open, it scans the drive for files that are still there and lets you get them back. It works with internal hard drives and SSDs, external drives, USB sticks, SD and memory cards, and runs on Windows XP through to Windows 11. There's no Mac version.

It suits anyone who has just lost something important and wants to try a fix themselves before paying for a specialist recovery service: parents with years of family photos on a camera card, students with a missing coursework file, or small businesses with a drive that's turned RAW.

What's worth a look

Here are the licences and tools worth knowing about.

Start with the free download. It runs a quick scan for recently lost files or a deep scan for formatted drives and lost partitions, and shows a preview of what it can recover. If your files show up, you then buy a licence. On the plans page the one-month licence covers three PCs, the one-year licence four and the lifetime licence five. All are marked "No Auto-Renewal", and the FAQ says each is a one-time payment.

The site also has guides for particular situations. The SD card recovery page covers camera and phone cards that have been formatted or corrupted, and the photo recovery page explains how to get back pictures deleted from a PC or memory card. Both use the same Drecov download, so you don't need a separate tool for each job.

If the files come back but won't open, PandaOffice's sister tool Drepair repairs damaged videos, photos, audio and documents in more than 80 formats, and can work through a batch of files at once.

Current offers

Our Drecov page has 10% off the lifetime licence and 10% off the one-month licence with codes. On the PandaOffice store right now, licences are shown with "up to 45% off":

• Lifetime licence: £60.31, down from £109.65.
• One-year licence: £45.23, down from £75.38.
• One-month licence: £30.15, down from £46.39.
• Drepair lifetime licence: £45.23, down from £82.26.

How to save more

• Always run the free scan and preview first, so you only pay once you know your files can be recovered.
• The lifetime licence costs about the same as two months of the one-month licence, so pick it if you look after more than one family PC or might need recovery again.
• There's a 30-day money-back guarantee if support can't fix a recovery problem or the software doesn't work as described, so contact support before you give up.
