Edraw is Wondershare's family of diagramming apps. EdrawMax is the all-rounder, covering flowcharts, org charts, floor plans, network diagrams, UML, timelines, Gantt charts and infographics, with thousands of templates and AI tools that turn a text prompt into a diagram. EdrawMind is the mind-mapping app, handy for brainstorming, planning essays and revising. Both have desktop apps, and the paid plans include mobile and online access too.

It suits students, teachers, small business owners and anyone who wants a cheaper alternative to the big-name diagramming tools. Edrawsoft was founded in Shenzhen in 2014 and joined Wondershare, the company behind Filmora and PDFelement, in 2019. There's a free version to try before you pay.

What's worth a look

Here are the plans we'd compare first, with the pound prices shown on Edraw's pricing pages.

If you only need diagrams for a single project, the EdrawMax semi-annual plan at £57.99 is the cheapest way in, but the annual plan at £82.99 costs not much more for twice the time. If you'd rather stop paying altogether, the EdrawMax perpetual plan is a one-off £169, which gives you that desktop version for good plus three years of mobile and online access and 10GB of cloud storage, along with the community templates and AI features.

Whichever plan you pick, the main selling point is the template library. Rather than starting from a blank page, you can open a ready-made floor plan, family tree, project timeline or network map and change the shapes, text and colours to suit, which is far quicker for one-off jobs like an office move or a school project. EdrawMax also has a PowerPoint add-in that turns text into diagrams inside your slides.

For mind maps alone, EdrawMind is cheaper, at £49.99 a year or £98 for a perpetual licence. Want both apps? The 2-in-1 perpetual bundle of EdrawMax and EdrawMind is £179, well below the £267 you'd pay for the two perpetual licences separately.
