ALLPOWERS makes portable power stations, which are big rechargeable batteries with plug sockets and USB ports, plus solar panels to charge them. Its UK store sells in pounds with VAT included, ships from UK warehouses and fits the units with UK sockets, so there are no import fees to worry about.

The range suits campers and festival-goers who want to run lights, a cool box or a laptop off-grid, campervan owners who want power without a hook-up, and households looking for backup power during a cut. Bigger units can run a fridge, a kettle or a CPAP machine; smaller ones are light enough to carry to a tent.

What's worth a look

Here are six power stations across the range, from small and portable to home backup.

For tents and weekends away, the VOLIX P300 (256Wh, 300W) weighs 3.57kg and is £152.94, down from £249.99. The R600 (299Wh, 600W) adds a wireless phone charger and recharges from the mains in about an hour; it's £170.05, but it was showing as a pre-order when we checked.

In the middle of the range, the R1500 Lite holds 1056Wh, puts out 1600W and is £405.64 instead of £799. That's enough for a campervan or a short power cut at home. The P1800 is a newer 1024Wh model with four UK sockets and two 140W USB-C ports, at £494.95. For whole-home backup, the R2500 (2016Wh, 2500W) is £779, down from £1,599.99.

Most models charge from a wall socket, solar panels or a car, and many can work as an uninterruptible power supply that switches over in milliseconds if the mains fails. Solar generator kits pair a station with a matching folding panel, such as the 400W SP037.

Current offers

We don't have any ALLPOWERS codes from our affiliate feed yet. On the UK store right now:

• Power Deal Days: up to 65% off power stations, solar panels and kits.
• Bundle more, save more: 5% off orders over £1,000, 7% off over £1,500 and 12% off over £2,500.
• Free UK delivery from UK stock, though Northern Ireland and some remote Scottish postcodes pay a surcharge.

How to save more

• Work out how many watt-hours you really need. A weekend camping setup rarely needs more than the R600 or P300, and a smaller unit costs hundreds less.
• If you're spending over £1,000, adding a solar panel can push you into the next bundle tier and earn a bigger percentage off.
• Compare a solar generator kit with buying the station and panel separately before you check out.
