Refsee is a search engine for moving images. If you've ever spent an evening scrubbing through films and adverts looking for 'that golden-hour shot with the long shadows', it does the hunting for you: you describe the subject, the light, the colour or the feeling, and it returns matching frames from ads, music videos, films and motion design, each linked straight to the moment in its source.

It's aimed at directors, cinematographers, editors, designers and agency teams putting together treatments and pitch decks, but it's just as handy for film students and keen hobbyists planning a short. It's a subscription service run from Dubai and priced in US dollars, which UK customers can pay by card.

The video search is the heart of it. You can search visually, by title or (on Pro) by voiceover, then narrow the results by colour, framing and other details. Anything useful goes into a moodboard, which you can share with a client or crew through a single public link and switch back to private later.

Plus costs $28 a month with 600 generation credits; Pro is $38 a month with 1,200 credits and adds advanced search, including voiceover search. Credits pay for the AI image, video, voice and avatar tools, and each tool shows its cost before you start. If you work with AI assistants, the Refsee MCP connector lets ChatGPT, Claude and other tools search the library and save frames to a moodboard from inside a chat.

Two smaller tools are worth knowing about. The GIF Maker lets you open a video reference and turn a few seconds into a GIF, which is handy for showing a camera move or an edit rhythm in a presentation rather than describing it. And every user can set up a creator profile, a public page for your portfolio and projects, which doubles as a way to browse other people's work for ideas.

Our Refsee page has codes for 10% and 20% off the Plus and Pro plans, and paying annually saves about 20%: the pricing page lists Plus at $270 a year and Pro at $364 a year, against $28 and $38 a month. There's no separate sale on the site at the moment.
