AML Travel & Tours: Tanzania safaris and Zanzibar breaks

AML Travel & Tours is a Tanzanian travel company that began in 2015 booking flights and grew into a tour operator. Today it runs safaris in the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater, Kilimanjaro climbs and a range of Zanzibar beach holidays, using local guides and drivers. It has an office in Dar es Salaam and a UK phone number, and bookings on its website are taken in pounds.

It suits travellers who want a tailored East Africa trip without going through a large tour company: first-time safari-goers short on time, couples looking for a beach break, and walkers ready for Africa's highest peak. Prices are per person and do not include international flights or visas.

The safari prices cover a 4x4 vehicle with a pop-up roof, an English-speaking guide, park and conservation fees, accommodation and the meals listed in the itinerary. Drinks at lodges, tips, laundry and airport transfers on some trips cost extra. The Kilimanjaro climb includes park fees, hut beds, meals on the mountain, a guide and return airport transfers. On every trip page you can download a PDF brochure to plan offline.

What's worth a look

• 3-Day Serengeti & Ngorongoro Mid-Range Safari: game drives on the Serengeti plains, a night on the crater rim and a final drive inside the crater, currently from £1,802.40 per person.
• 7 Days Marangu Route Hike: the Kilimanjaro route where you sleep in mountain huts, with an extra acclimatisation day at Horombo Hut, currently from £1,958.40 per person.

• Zanzibar 3 Days 2 Nights Couples Package: a short break with a sandbank trip, snorkelling and a sunset, currently from £573 per person.

For Zanzibar packages the team sends three hotel options at different star ratings so you can choose your budget. Prices can change, so confirm the figure when you enquire.

There are also shorter Zanzibar stays of four, five, six and seven days, and a luxury five-day retreat with a private yacht trip, if the eight-day package is more than you need.
