bakerdays: personalised cakes that fit through the letterbox

Shopping at bakerdays? See all current bakerdays discount codes and deals, checked regularly.

bakerdays is an online bakery based in Nottingham that makes personalised cakes to order and sends them across the UK. You choose a design, add a name, message or photo, and pick a delivery date: order by 2pm for next-day delivery, or book up to a year ahead. It suits anyone sending a birthday surprise to someone who lives far away, as well as parents looking for a themed cake for a child's party.

Its signature product is the letterbox cake, a 5-inch cake that serves two to four and is packed to fit through a standard letterbox, so it can arrive even when nobody is home. There are also bento cakes, larger celebration cakes, cupcakes, brownies, cake jars and balloons, along with vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free options.

What's worth a look

• Full Photo Upload Cake: upload your own picture and the design team positions it on the icing, currently from £12. Candles and a card can be added.
• Victoria Sponge Bento Cake: a 5-inch tall cake with jam and vanilla buttercream that serves 4-6, currently £19.
• Witches Brew Bento Cake: a Halloween bento cake with purple buttercream and a cauldron topper, currently from £19.
• Letterbox Halloween Hamper: two Halloween brownies and foil-wrapped chocolate eyeballs, brains and pumpkins, sized for the letterbox, currently £9.
• Halloween cakes: the wider seasonal range, which starts at £12.

Prices can change and delivery is added at checkout.

Ordering is simple. Pick a design, choose a size and sponge flavour where offered, add your message or photo, then set the delivery date. Add-ons such as candles, sparkler candles, cards and helium balloons can be added on the product page. If you're catering for allergies or diets, there are separate pages for vegan and gluten-free cakes, but always check the ingredients on the product page. There is also a corporate range of branded cakes, brownies and letterbox gifts for businesses.

Current offers

• Halloween range from £12: the seasonal cakes, cupcakes and treats are live now.
• New bento cakes from £19: flavours include Victoria sponge, lemon drizzle, red velvet, coffee and chocolate orange.
• Student discount: students can verify through Youth Discount on the student discount page. The amount isn't shown publicly.

How to save more

• Stick to the standard all-day delivery slot. Product pages show next-day DPD delivery from £4.99, while morning and Saturday slots cost more (£12-£17).
• For a small group, a letterbox cake or bento cake costs less than a large celebration cake. Check the letterbox cake guide for sizes.
• Order in advance and choose delivery the day before the occasion, as bakerdays recommends. That way you won't need a pricier timed slot.
