BrightCHAMPS is an online school for children aged 6 to 16, founded in India in 2020 and now teaching families in more than 30 countries, the UK included. Classes are live, taught over video in small groups, and cover coding, robotics, maths, financial literacy, English and public speaking, and generative AI.
It suits parents who want their child to learn a tech or life skill that school doesn't cover in much depth, without driving to a club every week. Courses are grouped by school year and level, so a complete beginner and a child who already codes can both find a starting point. Group courses are paid upfront as a block of classes, and UK prices are shown in pounds before VAT.

For a first course, Coding Accelerator III is a 45-class group course for ages 8 to 12 that covers loops, simple mobile apps and 3D design, at £749. Younger builders can try RoboXcel, an introduction to robotics with 30 group classes for £489. Bear in mind that robotics courses come with a kit, and the kit's cost can't be refunded.
If you'd rather not commit to a long course, the self-paced nano courses are short video-and-quiz courses children can do on a tablet. They're priced in US dollars on the UK site. The Rubik's Cube course, for example, is $90.
Classes are live with a teacher, run online through BrightCHAMPS' platform (usually Zoom), and all your child needs is a laptop or desktop with an internet connection. Sessions aren't recorded for privacy reasons, but class notes, projects and activities are shared afterwards so children can go over what they covered. BrightCHAMPS suggests two one-hour sessions a week, and you can reschedule or cancel a class up to 12 hours before it starts from the student dashboard. There's also a learner app for phones and tablets.
