EINSTAR is the 3D scanner brand from SHINING 3D, a company that says it has more than 20 years of experience in high-precision scanning. Its scanners capture a real object as a 3D model, so you can reprint a broken part, reverse-engineer a bracket, digitise a sculpture or bring a prop into a game engine. It suits makers and 3D printing fans who've outgrown photogrammetry apps, small workshops doing custom parts, car and bike modifiers, artists and teachers. If you just want to scan the odd object once in a while, the handheld models are the place to start. The standalone and tracking systems are for heavier, more professional use.

The EINSTAR 2 is the obvious starting point. It has two scan modes: a blue-laser HD mode for fine detail and an infrared mode for faster scans of bigger things. It weighs 420g with the battery and connects over its own Wi-Fi. The box includes a carrying case, calibration board, battery and markers, and the product page also offers bundles with EXModel Personal software or the Accessories Pro Kit.
The EINSTAR Rockit is a smaller handheld that runs for up to three hours on its battery and comes with two batteries and a charger. If you'd rather not be tied to a laptop, the EinScan Rigil Lite has its own 6.4-inch touchscreen, 24GB of RAM and a 512GB SSD built in, so it can scan and process on its own.
Scanning is only half the job. EXModel Personal is the software for turning a scan into a CAD-ready model, with mesh editing, primitive extraction and 3D sketching. Reference markers such as the 6mm sheets help with plain, shiny or symmetrical objects that a scanner struggles to track.
