GreatBeanBags: handmade bean bags from Nottingham

GreatBeanBags is a Nottingham company that has been making bean bags since 1992. It says every bean bag is handmade at its own factory in the Midlands rather than imported, and it can make one to order if you can't find the size or fabric you want in the standard range.

It's a good place to look if you want a bean bag for a lounge, a teenager's bedroom, a games room or the garden. The range runs from small round bean bags and stools to slabs, chairs and large couch-style 'monster' bean bags. Fabrics include corduroy, cotton, faux fur, faux suede, faux leather, real leather and a shower-proof indoor/outdoor polyester. There are also sensory bean bags, kids' styles and dog bean bag beds.

What's worth a look

• The Great Bean Bag: the shop's best seller, a rounded bean bag in chunky polyester corduroy with a carry handle. It's currently from £66.99, and sizes run from 70cm to 110cm across.
• Indoor/Outdoor Stool Bean Bag: currently £44.99. It's a small footstool or extra seat in a shower-proof, UV-resistant fabric.
• Indoor/Outdoor Slab Bean Bag: currently £74.99. It's a flat lounger shape that works on a patio or by a window.
• Faux Fur Monster Bean Bag: currently from £291.99. It's one of the large lounging bean bags, big enough to stretch out on.

Prices change with size and fabric, so check the product page for the exact option you want.

Current offers

• Free next working day delivery: listed across the bean bag range.
• Bean bag sale: the Bean Bag Sale & Offers page brings together reduced chairs, sofas and cushions.
• 50-day returns: the shop lists a 50-day returns policy, which gives you time to make sure the size suits your room.

How to save more

• Look at the sale page first. Several indoor/outdoor styles, including the stool and slab, are among the lower-priced options.
• Measure your space before choosing a size. The Great Bean Bag comes in five sizes and the price rises with each, so you only pay for the size you need.
• For a garden or conservatory, an indoor/outdoor fabric means one bean bag can work inside and out.

If you're buying for children or for a sensory space, there are separate kids' and sensory ranges. For pets, the dog bean bag beds are described as chew, flea and dust-mite resistant. Because every bag is made in Nottingham, unusual sizes and colours are more realistic here than at a general furniture retailer.

Bean bags are bulky, so if you think you might return one, check the returns process and any handling costs on the site before you order.
