Lindex is a Swedish fashion chain that started as a lingerie shop in Alingsås in 1954 and is now based in Gothenburg. It has around 430 stores across 17 markets, three of them in the UK, and a UK website with prices in pounds. The look is practical Scandinavian: knitwear, jeans, coats, underwear and a big tights range for women, plus colourful, hard-wearing clothes for babies and children.

It suits anyone after good-value basics and outerwear, parents buying for babies and young kids, and anyone who goes through a lot of tights. Many pieces are labelled as made with recycled or organic materials, and the children's range includes a long-running Moomin collection in organic cotton.

Shopping from the UK is straightforward: the site opens on its UK version with prices in pounds, and orders are delivered to your home or, free of charge, to a Lindex shop. Standard home delivery carries a £1.90 service fee unless you're a member spending £24.99 or more. Full-price items can be returned within 30 days and sale items within 14 days, and returns in a Lindex shop are free. The free More at Lindex membership also brings bonus points on every purchase, early access to sales, member offers and a birthday gift each year, and its app holds your membership card for use in store.
