It suits families shopping on a budget, anyone furnishing a home without spending much, and people who like to buy online and then collect or return in a local store.

What's worth a look
- Sand Stretch Mid Rise Wide Leg Jeans: currently £19.20 (shown against an RRP of £24). A new-in women's jean in a sand colour, made from 98% cotton with 2% elastane for some stretch. A useful neutral for anyone who wants an everyday autumn trouser that isn't blue denim.

How to save more
- Use click and collect for small orders. According to Matalan's delivery page, standard home delivery costs £3.99 unless you spend over £49.99. Click and collect is free from £19.99, or £0.99 below that, so it's the cheaper choice for a couple of candles or a cushion.
- Stack the multibuys. The 3 for 2 offers on Christmas decorations and wrapping make it worth buying everything for the season in one order, rather than topping up later.
- Return to a store. Matalan lets you return online orders in store as well as by post, so you can try sizes at home without paying for postage back.
