My Mini Maker is a UK craft kit subscription for children aged three to nine. It was started by two parents, Nic and Tim, who wanted screen-free activities without the planning, and Justyna, an early-years practitioner with more than 20 years' experience who designs the crafts.

Each month brings a new theme, and the box arrives with the materials and simple instructions, plus notes on what each activity helps children practise. It suits busy parents and grandparents who want a ready-made rainy-day plan, and it makes a practical gift. Kits contain small parts, so all activities need adult supervision.

What's worth a look

• Monthly Activity Kit: four themed crafts for ages three to seven. On a monthly subscription it's currently £21.95 for one child or £33.95 for two, with free delivery.
• Halloween Activity Kit: this month's single kit, with a hanging bat, a pumpkin with a ghost inside and an Egyptian mummy, plus a sensory activity. Currently £25.95.
• Halloween Project Kit: for seven to nine year olds, with three shorter challenges and one longer, multi-step project. Currently £37.45.
• Monthly Sensory Kit: a themed sensory play set for ages three and up, delivered free each month. Currently £13.95 a month.
• Sensory Tray: the kits don't include a tray, so this reusable one keeps the mess in one place. Currently £12.95.

Prices can change, so check the product page before ordering. Scissors aren't included in kits either, though child-safe ones are sold in the supplies range for £2.95. Past themes such as dinosaurs, space, pirates and mini beasts are also sold as single kits.

Current offers

• Up to 30% off with a subscription. The monthly plan is 15% off, the three-month plan 25% off and the six-month plan 30% off, which works out at £18.25 a month for one child.
• Free delivery on every subscription plan, with the option to skip a month or cancel.
• 10% off when you join the newsletter, which also sends free activity ideas.
• Sensory gift subscription from £39.95 for three months, down from £44.85, with six and twelve-month options also reduced.

How to save more

• Choose the two-child option if you have siblings. It's £33.95 a month, compared with £43.90 for two separate monthly kits.
• For a gift, a gift subscription costs less than buying the same number of single kits. The three-month activity gift subscription is £69.95.
• Order by the 15th of the month if timing matters. After the first kit, boxes are sent on the 1st or the 16th depending on when you subscribed.
