Specscart is a Greater Manchester eyewear company that sells prescription glasses and sunglasses online and through three shops in Walkden, Bury and Urmston. Every pair is glazed at its own lab in Bury. That lets it dispatch many single-vision orders within 24 hours, as long as you order before 4pm. It suits anyone who wants an affordable second pair, a quick replacement or a wider choice of frames than a typical high-street rack.

You'll need a valid written prescription from the last two years to order prescription lenses online. If you live near Manchester, you can book a free eye test at one of the shops. Speak to your GP or pharmacist if you have any concerns about your health.

What's worth a look

  • Fletcher 6: clear round frames, currently £39.99 including standard prescription lenses (prices can change).
  • Millhead 3: a crystal-green pilot shape, currently £69.99.
  • Woodhouse: round frames in elm-brown wood, currently £69.99.
  • Pimhole 5: gold round metal frames, currently £79.99.
  • Edmonton 4: oversized tortoiseshell sunglasses with green-tinted lenses, currently £69.99.

Lens upgrades such as varifocals, thinner lenses, polarised tints and light-reactive lenses cost extra and take longer. Varifocals and complex prescriptions usually take seven to ten working days.

The range runs to more than 2,000 frames in acetate, stainless steel, titanium and wood. You can filter by face shape and style, and most single-vision frames cost between about £40 and £80 with standard lenses included.

Current offers

  • New customers get 10% off a first order over £49.99 with code NEW10. The code is printed on the Specscart website.
  • Buy two frames and get 50% off the second. This applies to frames worth £49.99 and above, and terms apply.
  • The Try at Home box is free. You get four frames, three demo lenses and a UV pen for seven days.
  • UK delivery is free, and international shipping is free too.
  • You can reglaze glasses you already own from £35.99.

How to save more

  • You can only use one discount code per order. If you're buying two pairs, check whether the buy-two offer saves more than NEW10.
  • Put new lenses in a frame you already like. Reglazing from £35.99 can cost less than buying a new pair.
  • Try frames at home first. Swapping a pair you've already bought means paying the price difference on a dearer frame, and you only get one exchange with free postage.

Payment options include debit and credit cards, PayPal and Apple Pay, and product pages show a pay-in-three option. You can contact customer service on 0161 312 5767, by email or through live chat.
