Water-to-Go is a Hertfordshire company, started in 2010, that sells refillable water bottles with a replaceable filter inside. The idea is that you fill up from a tap, stream or hotel sink and drink through the filter rather than buying bottled water. The range is small: three sizes of Eco Active bottle, a Classic 75cl bottle, spare filters and a few accessories. It suits travellers, walkers and commuters who want to cut down on single-use plastic. The company describes in detail what its filters are tested against, so read the product information and follow local advice before relying on it with untreated water abroad.

What's worth a look

• Eco 55cl Active Bottle: currently £24.95. The smallest bottle, made from plant-based material derived from sugarcane waste. It's BPA free and dishwasher safe, and fits easily in a day bag. It comes in colours from red and green to carob and kelp.
• Eco 55cl Active Bottle bundle pack: currently £34.95, down from £39.95. The same bottle with a spare filter, giving 400 litres of filtering in total. The best value way into the range if you'll use it daily.
• 1 Litre Eco Active Bottle: currently £44.95. The largest size, for longer days out or if you'd rather not refill so often. There's also a double pack at £84.95.
• 75cl Classic Bottle: currently £37.95. A black bottle with a coloured band (green, red or camouflage), a middle size between the two Eco Active bottles.
• 200L Twin Filter Pack: currently £27.95. Each filter is rated for 200 litres, which the company puts at about three months at two litres a day. Every filter size fits every bottle.

Current offers

• A discount through the Eat Plants and Travel partnership with code EPT20.
• Free UK delivery on orders over £24.99 by Royal Mail tracked 48-hour service. Below that it's £3.95, and orders placed before noon are sent the same day.
• £5 off the 55cl Eco Active bundle packs, now £34.95.
• The four-filter pack at £44.95, compared with £27.95 for one twin pack.

How to save more

• Buy a bundle with a spare filter rather than the bottle alone. It's £10 more for an extra 200 litres, cheaper than buying a filter later.
• If you already own a bottle, the four-filter pack works out at about £11.24 a filter against roughly £14 in a twin pack, and £16.95 for a single.
• Any bottle on its own, including the £24.95 55cl, already clears the £24.99 free-delivery threshold, so there's no need to add extras just to avoid postage.
