About Instant Car Check
Instant Car Check is an online vehicle history check for UK-registered cars. You type in a registration number, choose a check and get the report on screen straight away, with a copy by email. The site is run on HPI's platform: its terms are HPI's, its finance checks come from HPI and its optional mileage check draws on the National Mileage Register, while vehicle details come from the DVLA.
Every check covers whether the car is recorded as an insurance write-off, whether it's recorded as stolen, how many keepers it has had, import and export markers, plate changes and a VIN check, with an online and print-friendly report. Mileage records and a finance check are optional extras, and a valuation isn't part of the basic check. The site says checks start from £2.00.
The report only covers vehicles registered with the DVLA or DVA, doesn't name previous owners and won't show accident damage unless an insurer recorded the car as a write-off. You can update a check later using the reference number from your email, and pre-paid multicheck vouchers can be redeemed on the site. You can pay by debit or credit card or PayPal.
