Sophie Says is a small children's publisher from Newcastle upon Tyne, run by Sophie Says Ltd and founded by author Esther Marshall. She wrote the first book after her son was born, when she couldn't find a story with a human girl as the lead that carried the message she wanted him to hear. The second book, about mental health, is dedicated to the memory of her sister Rebecca, a junior doctor, and the brand's aim is to make talking about feelings a normal part of childhood.
The series follows a girl called Sophie, with picture books such as I Can, I Will, It's Okay Not To Be Okay, Be Proud Of Who You Are and It's Okay To Make Mistakes. Alongside the books there are feelings and affirmation cards, an activity and colouring book, wellbeing activity sheets and money-saving bundles. The site says the products suit children aged three to eight, and it also offers school resources and author visits. For every book sold, it says it donates one to a child who needs it.
