DocHub is an online PDF editor that lets you edit, fill in, sign and share documents in your browser, with nothing to install. You can upload PDFs, Word and PowerPoint files, images or text files up to 31 MB, then add text, images, highlights and comments, white out details, manage pages and sign. Finished documents can be emailed, shared as a link, faxed, downloaded or printed.

It suits anyone who regularly gets forms to sign, such as tenancy agreements, school permission slips or contracts for freelance work, as well as small businesses and teachers. DocHub launched in 2014, is based in Boston and says it has more than 100 million users. As well as Google Drive and Gmail, it connects to OneDrive, Dropbox and Box, and there are DocHub apps on the App Store and Google Play.

The Pro plan is DocHub's most popular plan, aimed at businesses, and comes with a 30-day free trial. There's also a free plan for individuals, a Basic plan for freelancers and small teams, and a site licence for larger organisations. When we checked, the pricing page showed prices in euros and dollars rather than pounds, so look at the final figure at checkout.

The fillable PDF form builder lets you add text boxes, signature fields, dropdowns and checkboxes to an ordinary document, then share it by email, sign request or link. If you live in Google's apps, DocHub for Google Drive imports Drive files in one click, and the Chrome extension opens Gmail attachments in the editor so you can sign and send them without downloading anything. The AI document assistant can summarise long documents, simplify the wording and answer questions about a highlighted section.

For security, DocHub offers password protection, two-factor authentication, encrypted storage and a detailed audit trail. You can also set roles and permissions so other people can view, edit or sign a shared document.
