invideo is a video editor that runs in your browser and leans heavily on AI. You can type an idea and let it draft a script, generate visuals, add a voiceover, subtitles and music, or you can roll up your sleeves and work on a proper multitrack timeline with colour grading, audio mixing and captions. It suits small businesses making social ads, YouTubers and podcasters who want quicker edits, and anyone who has a folder of holiday photos waiting to become a slideshow.

The timeline is multiplayer, so several people can edit the same project at once and leave comments on exact moments, and you can export a project to Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro or DaVinci Resolve if you want to finish it elsewhere. There are iOS and Android apps too.

What's worth a look

invideo is software, so here are its main plans and tools. Prices are in US dollars, as listed on invideo's site.

Plans are priced per seat and paid for in monthly credits, which are spent on AI generation rather than downloads. Starter costs $10 a month billed annually and gives 400 credits, the full timeline editor and 200GB of storage. Plus, at $30 a month billed annually, raises that to 2,000 credits, opens up all the AI models and adds ten free guest seats. Max, at $75, has the lowest cost per credit for heavy users.

If you don't need AI generation at all, the online video editor covers trimming, cropping for TikTok or Instagram, automatic captions, background swaps and stabilising shaky footage, and you can start editing free.

For quicker results, invideo Studio offers more than 5,000 templates for social posts, ads and promos that you customise by dragging in your own images, logo and text, with stock media and music built in. The Picture Video Maker does the same for photos, turning a batch of pictures into a video with music and effects, which is handy for birthdays, anniversaries or a year-in-review clip.

Current offers

• Every plan is 50% off when billed annually: Starter drops from $20 to $10 per seat a month, Plus from $60 to $30 and Max from $150 to $75.
• Plus includes ten free guest seats with 190 credits each, and Max includes twenty.
• You can sign up free without a credit card to try the editor and templates.

How to save more

• Unused credits don't roll over to the next month, so start on Starter and only move up if you keep running out.
• Use the plan calculator on the pricing page: tell it what you make and how many seats you need, and it suggests the cheapest plan that covers it.
• Plans are charged in dollars, so a card with no foreign transaction fees keeps the cost down.
